Neighborhood House Child Care Anchor in New, Innovative Affordable Housing Complex

Ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opens the SPARK Apartments on North Temple

Neighborhood House is celebrating the grand opening of our first satellite preschool and child care facility, located within the new SPARK Apartments on Salt Lake City's North Temple. This $99 million, 200-unit mixed-income housing complex stands out for its unique inclusion of affordable, on-site child care, a critical amenity for working families.

Addressing Affordability: Housing and Child Care in One Place

Developed by Brinshore Development, the SPARK complex offers a groundbreaking model by pairing much-needed affordable housing with our high-quality early education services. The development provides 200 apartments, with 48 units designated as deeply affordable for families earning as low as 20%-30% of the area's median income.

By integrating our services directly into the residential complex, Neighborhood House can utilize its sliding-scale tuition model to ensure low-income residents have convenient access to care without the burden of excessive cost.

“We help hardworking families climb the economic ladder,” said Jennifer Nuttall, Neighborhood House Executive Director, “and build strong, happy futures.”This project, which transformed a formerly blighted area into a thriving community hub near the future Power District, has been lauded by Mayor Erin Mendenhall and other city officials as a major step toward equitable and resilient community building.
